Damn boat is 6 meters wider than the last cruise ship I was on. Carnival Pride is 900 feet long and 112 feet wide and held a fuck ton of people.

Most ships are built as big as 32.26M wide so they can cross the Panama Canal (its supposed to be widened soon). Have fun sailing around Chile!

Aren't they widening parts of the canal and adding in some new, wider locks? Don't think it's done yet, but I did see a cool show about the project on like Discovery.

Is the restriction the same for the Suez Canal?

Not sure, but I believe they are expanding the Panama Canal to support the bigger ships that will be built in the future. I do a lot of ship surveys, and I've rarely seen one with a beam over 32.26M. With this restriction, they can only build the ships longer, which reduces their maneuvaribility. Its hard enough when most ships are about 600 ft long.
